Pirates vs Brew Crew, PNC Park, 4/18/2014

I was hoping that the Brewers would perform better today given their lineup and usual nice barrage of bp homers.

Action for me began with a toss up from Gerrit Cole for Ball 1 after he finished a short pitching session to Euclides Rojas.  Ball 2 was a caught homer that I had to fight the sun for.

Ball 3 was interesting, a Pirate launched a ball that went through the rotunda, landed on the escalators and somehow ricocheted back down to this little corner behind the statue of Ralph Kiners hands.  Erik knew as well as I that it was coming down somewhere or would roll on the rotunda.  We tracked it step for step.  I had a slight lead and adjusted to where it landed in time to get it.

Heberto found me for Ball 4, endless generosity.  Following this I was able to scrum a deep homer to left center which clanged around a bit for Ball 5.

Brewers bats in their second group started charging well into some balls, I caught a high flyer with max reach that just missed hitting the IC Light banner wall for Ball 6.

Ball 7 was another difficult catch where I was able to reach up and over another ballhawk with a good lean to my right.

It was an OPACY 50th commemorative.

ffff

In CF I got Carlos Gomez who tonite pulled a nice Bo Jackson on a bat after a K, and then launched a high homer deep to CF well over 400 feet.  Cool guy, awesome player, intense as hell.
