Pirates vs Mets, PNC Park, 5/22/2012

Im not even going to get into it about the commemoratives, there wasnt one in sight out of all the balls that PNC ballhawks and myself had snagged.  I asked today, Terry Collins, Ricky Bones, the bullpen catcher again, Ramon Ramirez, and Frank Francisco all for naught, they all basically said “No dude Im not going into the ballbag and look for a commemorative,” same as yesterday, different people, same result but it was the only shot I had at getting a NY Mets commemorative ball this season unless I can get to New York this season.

The first ball I got was from Chris Resop, who before hanging out with Joel Hanrahan threw me baseballs, not all the time, but he was consistent.  He threw me my 40oth ball two years ago.  Well he ran for a fly ball, missed it, and I caught him quickly after that and to my surprise he threw me Ball 1.  He is on the far left of the Hanrahan gang.  Hanrahan goes out of his way to point out the regular ballhawks to other players to ensure we dont get toss ups, from players we all consistently support through the good and bad.  Oh well.

The next ball I got was a ball that was just LACED opposite field with a fury, eerily similar to the place where I got busted in the mouth on a home run bounce off the step a few weeks ago.  For this one I ranged to my right, kept my eye on it as it bounced off the track, and it hit me in the chest for Ball 2 of the day.  This ball was a mini milestone ball, number 1200.

Heres the location of the bounce back.

After a while with no action I decided to play Andres Torres and Lucas Duda on the Clemente Wall.  It worked for another toss up from Mets 1st base coach Tom Goodwin, Ball 3, and a caught home run high on the Clemente Wall that was launched off the powerful bat of Lucas Duda for Ball 4.  The pic below shows the spot of the catch, and Tom Goodwin who earlier tossed up a ball.

That was it for the day.
